Ninety seconds of setting out, bedding and levelling

Large-format tile is unforgiving. A two-millimetre lip across a 1,200 mm edge catches the light down the whole wall, and no amount of grout hides it.

So we notch, back-butter, bed and clip every slab, then lift one at random to check the adhesive coverage behind it before the row is locked in.

It is slower on the day, and it is the reason our floors are still flat when the builder comes back four years later.

Five steps, no surprises on invoice day

The same sequence on a single ensuite and on a ninety-six unit tower. What changes is the programme, not the standard.

  1. 01

    Consultation

    We walk the space with you, look at the substrate, and tell you what it will actually take. If a floor needs grinding or a wall needs sheeting, you hear it now and not on invoice day.

  2. 02

    Measure & quote

    Laser measure, a setting-out plan and a fixed written quote broken down by area. Tile allowances, wastage and movement joints are all itemised.

  3. 03

    Surface prep & waterproofing

    Grinding, priming, falls and screeds, then membrane to AS/NZS 3740, photographed at every stage for every wet area.

  4. 04

    Installation

    Dry lay, set out from the sightline, then full adhesive coverage checked by lifting tiles at random. Movement joints go where the standard says, not where they are easiest.

  5. 05

    Final inspection & handover

    Grout cured, silicone cut in, surfaces cleaned down, and a walk-through against a written snag list before we ask for the final payment.
